Chapter twelve

Xander

Silence.

Pure, unadulterated silence cuts through the atmosphere of our lounge area as we try to figure out what the actual fuck just happened.

“So…that didn’t go as planned.” Jett says, breaking the silence in the most infuriating way possible.

“No shit.” Kai growls.

“What now?” Enzo asks to no one in particular, but I have a feeling Jett is going to be the one to answer because I know that one thing is for sure, we underestimated her. I underestimated her. I put my brothers at risk because I assumed she wouldn’t be able to overpower me, but she did. How?

“Xan?” Kai looks at me. They all look to me for guidance I can’t give them at the moment.

“Jett, what exactly did you make her vow?” I need to know the details because as reckless as his decision was, it might be the only way to get her to comply.

“I made her vow on pain of death to find out who killed my parents and bring them to their knees in front of me.” He shrugs.

“Why would she vow that if it was her? If it was her mother?” Enzo asks, always the voice of reason.

“We need to show her the proof we have. It may force the confession out of her.” Kai says.

“No. We have the upper hand when it comes to physical evidence. Let’s keep that within our circle. But you do bring up a great point. Why would she make that vow if she is the guilty party?” I can tell the energy in the room is tense and I need to diffuse this situation before it gets out of hand.

“What about the fact that Jett nearly killed her then kissed her like he was starving.” Kai states.

“I seized an opportunity that presented itself. Don’t hate on me for doing something none of you pussies would do.” Jett growls.

“You could’ve broken our vow.” Enzo reasons.

“But I didn’t.” Jett shrugs. “It’s a stupid vow anyways. Not being able to perform any sexual acts with her. Why did we decide that?”

“Because we need to think with our brains, not our dicks. Regardless of how tempting she is.” I answer.

“What’s the plan?” Kai says, trying to get to the point.

“I need to figure out what she is and how she has that much power if she is Hunter born. Also, Jett, since you made her vow to you, you are now in charge of her every move. Follow her, watch her, play nice. We still have an advantage over her. By the time December comes, I want her broken. If that means manipulating her into thinking we have made peace, then so be it. I can play the double-agent, can all of you?” I challenge.

“Hell yes.” They answer in unison.

“Good. Also, we need to cut her off from her friends. That way she will have no choice but to become ours…permanently.” I smirk at myself.

“Are you suggesting we force her out of Hunter House? And what? Bring her here as our prisoner? I’m pretty sure her absences will not go unnoticed.
